Since joining us 6 ½ years ago, as a CNA, Leanne has become much more than just a staff member – she is a beloved member of the Decatur House family.
“She’s very kind and very helpful,” Jeanne said. “And she’s always cheerful!”
Leanne grew up in Reading, Mass., as the youngest of eight children. Following graduation from Quinnipiac College, in Connecticut, she resided briefly in Cambridge.
Leanne moved to the Cape 32 years ago. She married Tom and in 2003 they built a home in Sandwich, not far from Decatur House.
Leanne and Tom are proud parents of three grown children – two sons and a daughter, Ryan, Tom and Emma – all graduates of Tom’s alma mater, the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Leanne’s family will expand next year, adding two daughters-in-law with the weddings of her sons.
Family travel is a big part of Leanne’s life, and she happily recalls trips to the Caribbean country of Belize, as well as California, and Florida. The most recent venture, in October, was a family hike in the mountains of New Hampshire.
She says she believes in a healthy lifestyle, with a focus on diet and exercise. She stays fit by biking, weight-training, yoga and walking her “grand-puppies.” And while others might be wolfing down lasagna and a slice of yummy cheesecake at lunch, Leanne can often be seen enjoying a cup of yogurt and fresh fruit.
An avid golfer before she began raising a family, Leanne looks forward to resuming the game someday. And she is sure to get some helpful pointers from her husband, an accomplished player who serves as Golf Course Superintendent at the storied Hyannisport Club.
Leanne says she “enjoys the atmosphere and appreciates the care the residents are given at Decatur House.” But adds that most of all, she “values her relationships with the residents.”
