Linda and Steve Austin, Owners
Decatur House represents the goals and dreams of Linda and Steve Austin to build and manage an assisted living residence on the Upper Cape. They didn’t build just an ordinary assisted living community more than 20 years ago, but they built one that offers residents a beautiful and intimate setting where their individual needs are met. The husband and wife team personally oversees each and every detail that is critical to the daily operation of a first-class assisted living residence.
They have made Decatur House’s goal into a reality: to be a one of a kind community that achieves excellence in elder residential care.
Steve and Linda have assembled an experienced and compassionate leadership team who are dedicated to providing quality service to residents and their families.
A Note from our Executive Director, Sarah Tribuzio:
While serving as Decatur House’s Executive Director is a new position for me, I am not new to Decatur House. In fact, my wedding reception was held on the front lawn of this beautiful property 23 years ago and the residents were all in attendance!
My mother and father, Linda and Steve Austin, built this lovely community in order to offer a specialized, unique option for assisted living. My mother’s knowledge, wisdom and vision has led us to become advocates and partner with residents and their family members as they move through the aging process. I love working with this population as well, and it is my honor, privilege, and main focus to carry on this legacy.
The warmth and joy you feel when you walk through the doors of Decatur House will not change, and our commitment to keeping our team and the level of care strong, will remain steadfast under my leadership as well.
Some of the things that have been changing are what I hope you’ll see as next generation improvements. I’ve used my 25 years of management, fundraising and fiscal experience to:
- Update our computer systems and website and use more automation to simplify processes.
- Build community partnerships. I have brought in students from Riverview School, as well as established a co-op program with Upper Cape Technical School’s Health Careers program. It is important for both the older and younger generations to have the benefit of knowing and enjoying one another.
- I also want to continue the work that my mother has established with Hospice care. It is imperative to me to have people who are aging with us be able to stay until the very end.
- I am also committed to offering more benefits to our dedicated staff by helping them to save for education and retirement. We are a family business and we want what’s best for our staff and their families.
- Ultimately, my dream is to start a non-profit arm of Decatur House, so that we are able to raise money to assist people who can’t afford to live here. A place like Decatur House is very different. I want to help make it as affordable as we can for as many people as we can.
I have been given the opportunity to do this work and I love it. Come and see for yourself what Decatur House offers.
