We are thrilled to welcome our newest resident, Ed Mogan, to Decatur House. Always smiling and ready with a kind word, it is nice to have Ed and his sweet dog Marnie with us!
Ed grew up in Norwood but spent much of his adult life on Cape Cod, where he built a family and a successful career as a builder. Through his company, Mogan Homes, he crafted many homes on the Cape.
as a loyal husband, father and grandfather, family has always been his greatest joy. He shared a marriage of 49 years with his wife, Leah, until her recent passing earlier this month. He loves spending time with his daughters, Lisa and Corinne, and takes great joy in being “Pop Pop” to his granddaughters, Gabriella and Isla.
Though there was a brief adventure to Charleston, South Carolina, Cape Cod is home to Ed. Spending time on their family boat, socializing with friends at the Hyannis Yacht Club, and hosting gatherings; especially their annual Christmas party, always brought him great joy.
In quieter moments, he is an avid reader, drawn to thrilling tales by Stephen King and John Grisham. His passion for music is equally strong, with a soft spot for artists like Simon and Garfunkel, the Eagles, and Dave Matthews Band. Whether he’s walking his dog Marnie, playing solitaire on the computer, watching a game of football or laughing along to The Christmas Story for the umpteenth time, he tends to always find joy in life’s simple pleasures.
Described by those who know him best as kind, caring, laid-back, and ever-optimistic, he always strives to focus on what truly matters: love, family, and living each day with gratitude. Whether it’s on Cape Cod, in Boston, Charleston, or Key West, he cherishes the journey and the people who make it so extraordinary.
This Thanksgiving Ed was crowned as “House Turkey” by Sarah, a coveted honor reserved for the most holiday spirited resident!
