The house took on a festive holiday feel in December. The season kicked off in grand fashion with a performance by the Glass Town Carolers, before a packed house of residents and family members. Decked out in traditional Victorian garb, the carolers led a spirited sing along of favorite Yuletide Noels.
Family members and friends joined us again later in the month (see photo) for a special holiday gathering. Residents treated their guests of honor to a wonderful menu, which included: lobster bisque, scallops and bacon, roast beef crostini, chicken satay and tomato caprese.
Decatur House owner, Steve Austin made a trip to Braintree to pick up amazing desserts from the legendary Konditor Meister bakery.
We all enjoyed a performance by “No Boys Allowed,” a choral group made up of 9-yearold girls who entertained us with carols. Holiday Cheer!
Our own Lourana settled in at the piano to lead a fun “Name that Tune” session. During her brief sojourn from Florida, pianist Janice Hannah dropped by to reprise her popular social-hour sing along.
Santa also made a visit to the House, bearing a personalized gift for every resident! The highlight of our holiday festivities was a fun Christmas Eve party led by Jana Ahnquist. The event featured an interactive rendition of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” – replete with “cue cards” – and a yule-tide-themed version of the Jeopardy game show.
To make the holiday season complete, residents enjoyed guided tours of Sandwich’s renowned “giants,” uniquely designed light sculptures on display throughout the village. “We have our name on the waiting list and hope to have our very own giant next Christmas!” said Sarah Tribuzio, Executive Director.
