2022 Riverview Project Search interns Chase, Sofia, and Dan performing for Decatur House residents and staff
Since 2018 DH has invited students from Riverview School’s Project Search to join the team for the second half of their school year. After a 2-year hiatus due to Covid, we have once again welcomed three students to the House. Chase, Sofia, and Dan will be helping keep Decatur House clean and fresh, and sharing their bright, young spirits with us until June.
Chase, who is from Falmouth, describes himself as thorough and willing to do any task assigned. Checklists, asking for and paying attention to demonstrations, and using his phone as an alarm help him to be successful. For fun, Chase enjoys boating and landscaping. He also likes to spend time working on cars and boats. He’s worked at Chatham Bars Inn as a housekeeper and at Hot Diggity Dog dog-washing boutique in Dennis. His very specific future employment goal is to work as a mechanic at Falmouth Toyota.

Project Search interns Chase and Sofia
Hingham native Sofia says she strives to be both punctual and positive, is a hard worker, and always remembers to “dress for success.” Her strengths come from a regime of prioritizing tasks, using her phone as an alarm, and staying connected to music. Along with listening to music as much as possible, Sofia plays electric ukulele and bass guitar in a band and sings in a chorus. A thespian and sports fan as well, she keeps quite busy!
Sofia’s work experience includes serving in the Riverview School Dining Hall, being a housekeeper and pool and beach attendant at Chatham Bars Inn, and a Middle School teacher’s assistant. Her future employment goal is to be a teacher’s aide in a preschool.
Dan, from Westborough, prides in his punctuality, work stamina, willingness, and attention to detail. To be successful, Dan knows to ask for clarification, pay attention to visual demonstrations from supervisors, and use his phone to help keep track of his work.
Also, a musician and thespian, Dan plays guitar in the school band, sings and writes songs, and acts in the school plays. He also enjoys flying drones.

Project Search interns Sofia and Daniel with Decatur House founder-owner Linda Austin
Dan has worked in housekeeping at Chatham Bars Inn, and at several restaurants doing various tasks (dishwashing, serving, cleaning) at Karen’s Kitchen, Sugar Shack, and Riverview Café.
Dan is not sure what he wants to do or where we want to work yet, in his hometown or here on the Cape, but we hope the Decatur House experience will benefit Dan, as well as Chase and Sofia positively and provide skills and knowledge to help them pursue their dream jobs!
Welcome to the team Riverview ’22 cohort!
