Music, dance and relaxation were the common denominators uniting our June programs, which were marked by a few spontaneous instances when all preplanning was cast to the wind.
Residents gave an enthusiastic thumbs-up to Mike Tardis, a very talented singer, guitarist and pianist. Mike’s fun demeanor and personable interaction with residents earned him rounds of exuberant applause. Mike will be back, by popular demand, later this month.
Susan Lee Nolan, licensed massage and Reiki therapist, was also very well received in her debut appearance. Her calming presence and soothing relaxation techniques earned her repeat performances to come throughout this summer.
Our Country Music Social was a big hit. After only a few bars of Hank Williams’ “Hey, Good Lookin’” and “Jambalya,” the Sunroom transformed into a rollicking dance hall as residents – one by one — took to their feet.
Another impromptu event evolved during a simple music trivia session, when Lourana was coaxed into playing the piano. As she played one old favorite after another, residents sang along with a gusto usually reserved for a Patriots’ playoff game.
We look forward to continuing the good times, and a long-awaited return to normalcy. Things to look forward to in July include a return of the summer ice cream truck, outings to restaurants and local gardens and museums, and watching the 4th of July parade together.
