The month of March brought us the arrival of spring, and a welcomed return to daylight saving time. We enjoyed a fun St. Paddy’s Day Social replete with tasty shamrock floats and traditional Irish music. Nancy D. impressed us by knowing the lyrics of every song, and singing along in perfect pitch.
Artist Sandy Taylor’s March art class attracted our largest turnout ever. The group included first-time painters Nancy C. and Larry, each of whom created a stunning still life of spring tulips.
Kate led an array of craft projects, including Ireland-themed door hangings, whimsical painted mushrooms and mugs. April craft plans include cookie decorating, flower arranging, Easter-themed projects and fairy gardens.
April also means the return of “America’s pastime”- baseball! The Red Sox will play their home opener on April 15th at the storied Fenway Park. We’re all envious of Tom, a longtime season ticket-holder, who will be there when the ump yells, “Play ball!” We are exploring a possible day trip to Fenway Park, as well as to local Cape Cod Baseball League games.
Looking ahead, other April activities will include a luncheon at a nearby restaurant, canal visits, shopping trips to local stores. a walking club and an outing to the Heritage Museum and Gardens.
We are also weighing interest in an outing aboard the Cape Cod Central Railroad’s Luncheon Train.
On April 7th we will host an interdenominational faith service. And last but not least, the Easter Bunny will be visiting us on Friday, April 15, at noon. Family, friends and their children are welcome to attend.
