In the beginning of April, Mother Nature said, “April Fools” and we saw the return of winter for a short while. Activities Manager, Thalia also had a trick up her sleeve for the silly holiday. She surprised and delighted residents with a game intentionally mis-advertised as a fruit stand. Instead of produce, they enjoyed the ‘human slot machine’ (see photo)!
We finished with the laughter of residents reading jokes and sharing funny stories during “Whine Time.” It was a fun way to kick off April.
An excursion to the Sagamore Inn with Executive Director, Sarah Tribuzio. The residents said they very much enjoyed getting to know Sarah better.
In preparation of Easter, the next couple of weeks were busy with arts and crafts. We created bracelets by stringing jellybeans, made sock bunnies , gift bags, candy rabbits and painted rocks. All this culminated in an Easter Fun Hunt (see photo of Clara). Congratulations Team Humphrey! His team was able to assemble and don balloon-filled, pantyhose ‘bunny ears’ for the most hilarious victory in Decatur House-history!
Aside from all the wonderful, seasonal chaos, there was still time for self-care and relaxation like: The CenterWell Home Health, ‘Fall Prevention Program’ by Joanne Burbank, Tai Chi with Donna, Communion with Brother Mike, Music by Chris Carter, and Rick Walsh. Even with all these options, the favorite by far was Painting with Leonie and Watercolors with Mary Shea- a recent, but wildly popular addition (see photo of Mary and Marilyn).
April’s departure left an expansive dandelion impression; there is no doubt that here at Decatur House, we will be following Spring straight to where the fun is!
