Although our March activities were cut short by the Coronavirus threat, we managed to pack a lot of fun into the first two weeks, including a return appearance by songstress Julie Charland. Julie treated us to a special St. Patrick’s Day-inspired program featuring Irish music and humor.
Outings (until ending mid-month) included a shopping trip to Hyannis, a scenic ride along the water, and a jaunt to Penny Lane Consignment — a favorite destination of our fashion-conscious residents. Marcia led a “Remember the 30s” program, and the ladies practiced their stretches, breathing and other relaxation techniques in Sherill’s Chair Yoga.
Our new Friday Movie Matinees have been a hit, especially those featuring comedy favorites like The First Wives Club and As Good as it Gets.
Word games have become increasingly popular, as residents test their vocabulary skills in an array of challenging brain-teasers, including Words-in-a-Word, Scrabble, Classic Hangman, Bananagrams and Scribbage. Card games, too — especially Rummy — have seen a growing resurgence.
Activities Coordinator Marcia Brown is taking a break during the virus outbreak. We miss her but look forward to seeing her once the virus is no longer a threat.
The rest of us continue to try and make the best of these challenging days and to remain active and connected – 6’ apart!
