The month of July started out with a rousing patriotic sing-along led by pianist Jana Ahnquist, Donna’s talented daughter.
The festivities continued on July 4th, when residents were seated outdoors to watch the “Spirit of Sandwich” parade pass by the house.
We enjoyed musical programs by entertainers Mike Dardis and Rick Walsh. A highlight of Mike’s show was the audience’s rousing rendition of John Denver’s “Country Roads.”
An impromptu sing-along led by our resident pianist, Lourana Thomas, concluded with an emotional performance of our national anthem. The large audience stood as one, their voices resounding throughout the house.
Artist Wendi C. Smith returned to lead a painting class, Betsy won the High Roller Dice Game and our gin rummy club continues to grow.
Exhilarating outdoor walks, interesting craft projects and the community jigsaw puzzle continue to be popular group activities.
Our pre-lunch Words-in-a-Word sessions, staged in the sunroom, have been a big hit.
Residents are enjoying guided outings to Heritage Museums & Gardens, to admire the colorful hydrangeas, antique cars and vintage carousel. The visits will continue into the fall.
