September was a lovely month on Cape Cod. The gardens were still abloom and we enjoyed open windows without having to endure the heat and humidity of full summer. At Decatur House, we took advantage of our beautiful surroundings and got out and about as much as possible.
Here’s some of what we enjoyed in September:
Cahoon Museum of Art Early Photography Exhibit
We visited the Cahoon Museum of American Art to see Through the Looking Glass, an exhibit that features images created by the early photographic process of daguerreotypy (left).
Cruising the canal, on an absolutely gorgeous September afternoon, we learned about Wickets Island. The tiny island was recently attained, and is being restored, by the Buzzards Bay Coalition as part of the developing Onset Bay Recreational Center.

Back at the House, we decorated our own personal mugs and were entertained by Liz Saunders who always gets our feet tapping and our hands clapping. We made personalized mugs, and were treated to dancing demonstration by Cape Sands Ballroom. We kept our bodies moving playing cornhole and doing our daily exercise. And of course, we took time to challenge our minds with trivia, cards, and weekly LongWord games.
