The Fourth of July is one of those dates when residents of Decatur House, their family members, and the staff members, are reminded of just how nice it is to live in the heart of charming Sandwich Village.
The hometown parade passed right in front of the House, where an excited crowd of seniors adorned in red, white and blue, joined by family members and friends, cheered them on! See the photo above of Sally, Addy, Alice and Clara!
July was hot this year. We kept cool with popsicles and frequent visits from the ice cream truck. Residents were able to choose whatever ice cream treats they wanted, and they thought it was a lot of fun. We also set up fruit-infused water stations throughout the house and reminded residents to stay hydrated.
Our July outings included a visit to the Sandwich Glass Museum, and a lunch outing to the Pilot House with wonderful views of the canal and great conversation.
Additionally, July brought with it, the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and the return of volunteer Donna Klucevsek, owner of Feisty Lion Martial Arts and Fitness. Donna is sharing her Tai Chi and Qigong practices with residents.
