The annual 4th of July Parade is a special tradition for close-knit Sandwich Village.
Since opening Decatur House twenty years ago, it has become a wonderful holiday practice for all of our residents and staff as well. We are so lucky to be located on Main Street, and to have the parade pass right by our front lawn!
It’s a wonderful opportunity to invite our families to join us to share in hometown pride and popsicles.
Our chefs served up a delicious lunch of sausages and hotdogs with potato salad and fresh fruit, as our residents waved American flags with proud smiles on their faces. See photo of Sally and Nancy above!
Some floats tossed candy to onlookers and supporters. Fire trucks, police cars and old military vehicles drove by and waved.
The youth sports teams were in the parade, including Larry’s great grandson who was there with his baseball team!
Finally, a visit from Decatur House owners’ son, Steve Austin Jr. with his pet pig, Chief, all decked out in 4th of July attire (pictured above), gave everyone a good chuckle.
