Since joining the staff in March, Isiah and Lacey have become popular members of the Decatur House family.
“They’re 100 percent wonderful!” Jeanne said. “I always look forward to seeing them.”
Friends since the seventh grade, Lacey and Isiah are upperclassmen in the Health Technology program at Upper Cape Tech. With their high school days waning, both are looking ahead to the next chapter of their lives.
Lacey plans to become an orthopedic nurse, and hopes to attend UMass-Dartmouth, Duke (N. C.) or Nova Southeastern University (Fla.).
Isiah plans to follow in the steps of his grandparents, by becoming a cosmetologist. “They had their own salon,” he said. “I used to love going there when I was a kid.” He plans to have his own cosmetology salon some day, hopefully in Miami or California.
Seventeen-year-old Lacey, a Sandwich native, said she loves country music songs, and used to play the trumpet.“I got bored,” she said. “Plus, it hurt my lips.” Lacey’s dream vacation would be “any place tropical,” but particularly Bora Bora, Fiji or Hawaii.

Lacey has many interests, but only one true passion: Basketball. “Basketball is my life!” she said. “I’ve been playing since I could walk.”
Lacey played on Upper Cape Tech’s girls’ varsity team, where she was typically the Rams’ high scorer, renowned for her arching 3-pointers. In March, Lacy was slated to represent the Rams in the 33rd annual Cape & Islands All-Star Basketball Game. However, the event was abruptly cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
Isiah has lived in Sandwich since the age of 5. A strong swimmer, he competed on the Sandwich High School swim team when he was only in the 8th grade. He enjoys music, especially “oldies,” from the 60s and 70s. His favorite singers are Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson. A true New Englander, Isiah’s favorite food is lobster.
Isiah – who celebrates his 19th birthday Dec. 3rd — says he truly loves working at Decatur House.
“The owners are sweethearts – they’re so nice,” he said. “And it’s really homey here, and you don’t see that at other places.”
We love having these bright rising stars in the House. Thank you Lacey and Isiah for all you do for our residents.
Oh, and happy birthday Isiah!
