December was full of holiday music. From listening to Lourana play piano and having a fun sing-a-long with Rob (and Marcus the dog), to performances by the Town Neck Boys, Oak Ridge School, and First Church Choir, the House was full of festive music nearly daily!
Since Christmas is also a time for giving thanks, we made appreciation cards and cookies to distribute to our local community service workers.
In the Craft Corner we made fabric wreaths, holiday baskets, and bird feeders (which will go outside this month).
The Holiday Open House brought families and friends to the House, and a special visit from Santa made Christmas Eve even more special.
I’m looking forward to January which will bring, among other activities, music by Julie Charland, and a special presentation on Eleanor Roosevelt.
Also in January we will hold our first Decatur House Craft Show. We invite all staff, residents and family members to display their own, or just come browse others’ handmade items. Let me know if you have something to display.
