In June, Decatur House said good-bye to four Riverview GROW Transition Program students — Lesly Wakefield, Sean Dawson, Avery Hathaway, and Abby Albrittain. Through our partnership with Riverview, since last September, the eager-to-learn young adults spent 2 hours a day, two days a week learning about and assisting with kitchen and housekeeping duties at Decatur House. The hard-working cohort brought with them competence, kindness, and a positive energy that greatly benefited our community. In exchange, Decatur House offered students one-on-one mentorship and training with our staff and the unique opportunity to experience hands-on, practical employment in the health services field.
We wish Sean, Avery, Abby, and Lesly success in their careers and hope they will come back and visit Decatur House soon. We look forward to greeting our summer Riverview students this month!
