Decatur House welcomed December with joy. Residents trimmed the tree while singing songs and reminiscing about Christmas memories. Lots of laughs were had watching festive movies including “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Elf.”
We also relished delightful live entertainment this month. The Singing Sailors, Sandwich Soul (see video HERE), the Glass Town Carolers came to the house to perform holiday favorites, and musicians Gary Landgren, Rick Walsh and Jana Ahnquist also came by to sing with us.
We played our high roller dice game for prizes, and residents made holiday crafts including ornaments, sleighs, and beautiful plate wreaths. Additionally, this month’s painting class featured a beautiful water scene. Many residents said that they were giving their masterpieces away to loved ones as Christmas gifts.
Nancy Franks came to speak to us about “Christmas Around the World.” We took scenic drives to admire all of the festive light displays in town. Father Jack came to the House to share Holy Mass. And, Santa Claus himself even made an appearance to deliver personalized gifts all of the residents! See photo of Nancy Duggan and Santa.
Last, but certainly not least we loved sharing the holidays with residents’ families and friends at our holiday party. See photo of Tilly and her family.
