Cathy Ode has joined Decatur House in the new role of Community Life Director. She brings a wealth of experience that will help her build community within our residence, create engaging programs for the residents, help keep families connected with their loved ones, and make Decatur House even more of a resource to Sandwich and the wider community.
In addition to coordinating activities in various settings, Cathy has worked in home healthcare and lay ministry and previously had a private practice in marriage and family therapy in Boulder, Colorado.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cornell University, a Master’s in Counseling from Northeastern University, and certificates in both Mediation and Gerontology. Cathy and her husband, Jud, live in Sandwich with their two small dogs. Their five adult children are literally spread around the world, from Somerville to Southeast Asia!
Cathy’s hobbies include gardening, watercolor painting, and acting (at right she is as Aunt Abby in Cotuit Center for the Arts’ “Arsenic and Old Lace.”) Cathy also recently served as President of the Sandwich Arts Alliance.
Cathy says she is thrilled to be on the Decatur House team and appreciates the warm welcome she’s already received from residents, families, and staff, including her wonderful activities colleague, Maureen “Mo” Boyce.
Please join us in welcoming Cathy to the House and feel free to contact her with program suggestions and other matters related to community life for Decatur House. She can be reached at [email protected].
